More HTML

Still on the search for online tutorials, I have found InformIT Network from SAMS. This one promises HTML 4 in 24 hours!

It also says that all code in the examples are compatible with XHTML, so I'll give it a try.

Playing with Acorn

Here's the picture I'm going to work on (I haven't got one of acorns - this is the nearest I could find). I'm going to re-colour it, cut out the pine cones and generally learn my way round Acorn. Wish me luck!

Distractions

Well, I started the SQL tutorial here: - it seems straightforward enough so far, although I only got to page 4 before I got distracted when I went off to make sure I had SQL installed on my computer.

Like browsing a dictionary, it is far too easy to leave the path of righteousness and follow interesting leads, which is how I ended up downloading the demo version of Acorn.

Brilliant! I have tried tackling the Gimp. I have waded through many frankly disappointing You Tube tutorials. And it's too complicated when I only really need to clip and merge images (so far). So, finding Acorn has been a happy accident. It is clear and simple to understand as you'd expect from flyingmeat. And although the tutorials are a bit short, they present the fundamentals clearly.

I will learn as I go and am looking forward to discovering the advanced features later.

Meanwhile, I have a header image to make.

Learn HTML and CSS: An Absolute Beginner’s Guide
By Ian Lloyd http://articles.sitepoint.com/article/html-css-beginners-guide

I'm amazed!

Tomorrow I shall be looking into SQL
